Demystifying DETOX ME

With the launch of DETOX ME, our detoxifying face mask, we took the time to sit down with Dr. Rozenblat, the biochemist who helped bring the 123FRÉ Set to life, and she gave us the low-down on what’s actually in the product. We know that in today's day-and-age everyone wants to know what goes IN the products they put on their face, so we’re breaking it down for you. We’re taking you through all of the ingredients, one by one, and letting you get a glimpse behind the curtain. So, take out your pen and notepad, because today we’re giving you a science lesson. Let’s start off by breaking down the big and obvious: Argania Active Complex©, our unique formula that combines Argan oil and Argan leaf extract.

Argan Oil - What’s so great about Argan oil? A whole lot! For starters it’s made up of an extremely beneficial components: Linoleic acid (29-36%) which is an omega-6 fatty acid and has anti-inflammatory, acne reductive, and moisture retentive properties.

With the word “acid” popping up all over the place, it’s easy to confuse it with the burning kind. But fear not! Because when it comes to skincare, certain acids are actually really good for you, especially those in Argan oil. Argan oil helps maintain balance in the skin by keeping it hydrated, through its many highly moisturizing properties. It also strengthens the skin's barrier (via fatty acids), and is non-allergenic (making it suitable for sensitive skin). Argan has antioxidant activity, meaning it’s anti-pollution, prevents photoaging and wrinkles, protects against UVB-induced oxidative stress, and improves the antioxidative capacity of the skin (through its polyphenols and tocopherols).

In short, because I’m sure all that science made your head explode… Argan oil contains a LOT of really good things that help keep your skin hydrated, calm, and protected. But, our products wouldn’t be as kick-ass as they are if we just left it at that!

No, we took it a step further than simply using Argan oil, we also took the Argan leaf extract. Because, if you’re already there, might as well utilize everything you can right? Especially when Argan leaf contains saponins, which have antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. It also has high levels of flavonoids (mainly quercetin and myricetin derivatives) which are strong antioxidants.
