FRÉ has emerged out of admiration for active women, through a willingness to promote authentic beauty in motion, a drive to refresh the skincare industry and express positive social values all over the world, and the clear and obvious need for a line of facial skincare products that will take sweat and exercise-induced damages into account. All the while helping to replenish the endangered Argan forest and support the women who harvest Argan oil in Morocco
Planting for Life:
With every skincare set you buy, FRÉ plants an Argan tree, also known as the "Tree of Life", to help replenish the endangered Argan forest and support women who harvest Argan oil in Morocco. Planting Argan trees has a multi-layered impact by creating sustainable development, protecting the planet and empowering women. We are working with HAF (High Atlas Foundation) to fulfill their mission of catalyzing economic growth and endorsing grassroots development in disadvantaged communities throughout Morocco.
Our Mission:
FRÉ was established in 2017, and at our core is our ethos of giving back and having a positive impact on environment and humanity. Our skincare is based on a unique formula of Argan oil, Argan leaf water and Argan stem cells, and our philosophy is based on supporting the Izourane Argan Cooperative that harvests Argan oil and have made the FRÉ dream a reality. So, to give back and celebrate the power of Argan, we launched the ‘One Set, One Tree’ program: for every 123FRÉ set sold, FRÉ plants an Argan Tree of Life to help replenish the endangered Argan forest and support women who harvest Argan oil in Morocco.
The Effect:
Trees alter a region by moderating its climate, improving its air quality, conserving water, and encouraging biodiversity, all of which are important for our ecosystems and as such our livelihoods on this planet. Check out below how the different aspects of the Argan Oil ‘Industry’ come together to help change and improve the world we live in:
Trees:
“On average, one acre of new forest can sequester about 2.5 tons of carbon annually. Young trees absorb CO2 at a rate of 13 pounds per tree each year. Trees reach their most productive stage of carbon storage at about 10 years at which point they are estimated to absorb 48 pounds of CO2 per year. At that rate, they release enough oxygen back into the atmosphere to support two human beings.”
Women:
The Argan trees provide the ability for women in Morocco’s cooperatives to financially support their communities and families, and to provide a better education for their children through harvesting Argan oil. They have grouped together to form more than 150 cooperatives for harvesting the Argan seeds.
Argan:
Argan oil is an important economy for locals as according to the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Argan trees support the livelihoods of 3 million Moroccans, about 10% of the country’s population, who use the husks as firewood, the fruit for animal fodder and the pips to make precious oil.
Roots:
The positive social and environmental impacts provided by trees reaches beyond the borders of Morocco and her Argan Trees, as research shows that living in a green neighbourhood reduces stress and aids recovery from illness.
Leaves:
Studies have shown that in one urban park, tree cover removed 48 pounds of particulates, 9 pounds of nitrogen dioxide, 6 pounds of sulfur dioxide, 0.5 pounds of carbon monoxide and 100 pounds of carbon – daily
Goats:
Large populations of wildlife rely on forests for food, cover and water. National forests provide habitat for one-third of all federally listed threatened or endangered species.
We encourage everyone to educate themselves on the importance of trees, and check out The Arbor Day Foundation, the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to tree planting, as it portrays beautifully the importance of trees as a solution to many global issues here.
